Who We Are

Rooted in the Handcrafted Community

Shop American Handcrafted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Jacqueline Adamany to advocate for American handcrafted and help independent artists build stronger, more sustainable businesses.

Jacqueline's perspective has been shaped by her own experience as a working artist and by years spent supporting artists, independent retailers, and the handcrafted wholesale industry. She later joined IndieMe Marketplace and purchased the company in 2020. That progression has given her a practical understanding of the opportunities artists need and the challenges they face when turning creative work into a sustainable business.

Creating exceptional work is only one part of building a lasting creative business. Artists also need practical education, greater visibility, access to qualified markets, and meaningful opportunities to grow. Shop American Handcrafted was created to help bring those pieces together.

Jacqueline serves as the founder and Executive Director of Shop American Handcrafted. She is also the owner and president of IndieMe Marketplace.

Shop American Handcrafted and IndieMe share a commitment to the handcrafted community, but they serve distinct roles. Shop American Handcrafted is a separate nonprofit governed by its own board and focused on education, advocacy, visibility, and access to opportunity. It may collaborate with IndieMe and other trusted organizations on clearly defined programs that support artists and advance the nonprofit's mission.

What Guides Our Work

01

Artist-Centered

Our work begins with the real needs of independent artists. We believe support should be useful, approachable, and grounded in the realities of running a creative business.

Artists deserve access to tools and opportunities that help them make informed decisions, strengthen their businesses, and build toward long-term sustainability.

02

Practical

Exposure alone is not enough. Artists also need education, preparation, strong presentation, buyer readiness, and an understanding of how to reach the right markets.

We focus on practical support that artists can apply to their businesses and use to move forward with greater confidence.

03

Collaborative

Meaningful artist support is stronger when organizations work together. We welcome collaboration with arts councils, foundations, nonprofits, businesses, educators, and others who share our commitment to American artists.

Together, we can help remove barriers and create opportunities that may be difficult for artists to access on their own.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help American artists build stronger, more sustainable businesses through education, visibility, advocacy, and access to meaningful opportunity.

We also work to increase public understanding of the skill, value, and human connection behind handcrafted work. When artists are supported, consumers understand the value of what they create, and organizations work together, the entire handcrafted community becomes stronger.

This mission includes artists, independent retailers, shoppers, arts organizations, foundations, businesses, and everyone who believes authentic handcrafted work deserves to remain visible and valued.
